Animal Chairs

May 24, 2010

Children seem to be the focus of not only fashion this season, but also design driven especially for them. And unlike fashion which is just turning icons to miniature for kids, furniture and product design is focussing on them as special users and deriving products with kids, safety and playfulness as a pivot.

Israeli designer Elad Ozeri, participated in the designboom mart new york 2010,
held  at the ICFF, presented his series of animal chairs for children.

Each seat is made by Ozeri, hand-cut out from a single piece of acrylic sheeting
in the form of an elephant or giraffe. They are then shaped strategically and bent into their final form
through heating such that the prominent features of the elephant (its trunk) and giraffe (the neck),
are used as structural and supporting design elements.
