The 40 crore beautification of Powai Lake in Suburban Mumbai is being blamed for affecting natural habitat of crocodiles in this lake.

The lake does not serve potable water anymore due to contamination. However, it is the centre of a new suburban housing boom.

The fact of affecting the laying patterns of crocodiles was put forth recently by environmentalists, when a man was attacked by a crocodile.

Read the full article in Hindustan times. This is one of the many instances in Indian ‘design’ , where the approach is never holistic, but mere plasters of beautification and promenades.
